A groundbreaking study from the University of California Davis found that not only whole almonds but also almond oil could reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in healthy men and women. Due to the similar cholesterol-lowering effects of almond oil and whole almonds, the researchers concluded that these favorable health effects were mediated by components found in the almond’s oil, rather than some components present in the non-lipid fraction of the nut.
